Historical Photo

An Amazing historical photo of Taekwon-do.

Grand Master Young Ku Yun performing patterns for General Choi Hong Hi and three other gentlemen on the rooftop of a building in Seoul.

Grand Master Yun was teaching Korean Karate in the Korean Military.
Grand Master Young Ku Yun met General Choi by an American soldier showing him a book on Taekwon-do authored by General Choi. Grand Master Yun went to his superior to enquire of the General who at the time was a Korean Ambassador stationed between Korea and Malaysia he was given his contact details and met in his home in Seoul.

The General briefed Grand Master Yun and asked him to demonstrate his skill where he was very impressed. Grand Master Yun would continue meeting the General when he was in Korea and was trained personally in his home by the General many times.
Grand Master Young Ku Yun spearheaded the introduction if Taekwon-do to many countries and would eventually find his way to Australia and Establish ITF Taekwon-do.

I was graded by Grand Master Young Ku Yun from White Belt to Black Belt at age 14 in 1987. Grand Master Young Ku Yun taught my instructor Master Daher, Master McPhail, Master Davidson plus many more highly skilled Masters and instructors from the Oceania and Asia Pacific regions.
I am honoured to follow this branch of our Taekwon-do tree with such strong roots in ITF Taekwon-do.

Grand Master Young Ku Yun Commenced training in 1953 at the age of 12 years old.

Master Daher Commenced Training in 1972 as a young teenager newly arrived into Australia unable to speak a word of english.

Master El-Sheikh Commenced training in 1983 at the age of 9 years old.

The next generation continues the Journey of Taekwon-do.
